What is your plan for redesigning the suspension to work with the Ford rack and uprights? How does the rack compare width wise to the Miata rack? (wider I would guess)

I havent got as far as removing the rack yet but yes id say it will be wider. I havent bought the book yet so im not sure on the exact midlana track width but the doner car is 1800mm. This is also shared by the Ariel atom so im quite happy to have a track this wide.
suspension wise I dont forsee much difficulty mounting front uprights on the rear. Locosts with sierra uprights use a mushroom where the shock would mount into the upright. I will then need to use steering rack ends and fix them to the chassis at the rear.

Hi Jonnyt80,
what do you mean by track? I always thought it was the middle of the wheel - but I'm happy to be corrected on that. So the track changes depending on what wheels you have on. 1800mm would be well over a foot wider than an MX5 so it doesn't sound right?
Cheers
Ross

Sorry i didnt make a decent explanation.
the cars overall width is 1800mm track will be around 1600mm which is similar to an atom.
MX5 track width is around 1400mm

Midlana's track width is indeed wider than the Miata. That's dealt with by extending the steering rack arms - no change to the rack itself.

Now have my midlana ring binder book for christmas.
Have had alot going on so not really done much prep at all.
Have a charity oval race to do in 2 weeks so have been busy building a car for that.
Should hopefully make a start to my midlana by Easter.
Before that Though I will have my Duratec V6 stripped out by then and a table rigged up.
