Sorry, fixed that, I'm updating the drawings. I think you've already seen how the arms have changed, now it's a matter of getting the book caught up.

Working on the front lower A-arm drawings. It's the most detailed, so after it's done, the other's will go quicker. After that, there's modifying the chassis drawing for the front tube changes, then the rocker arm drawings.

The first pushrod setup is finally done and working. Shock vs. wheel motion is very nearly 1:1. As mentioned elsewhere, turns out the shocks could be a bit shorter. I'll probably stick with these because of the cost, plus it's not for sure if shorter units are really right yet. We'll see.

Now it's a matter of fixing the drawings (yes, the same old song) and building up the other side. Needless to say, I'll be real happy when the suspension's completely done - I'm ready to move on to other things!

Oh, and I made a small goof. I had tacked in a tube, welded one end, and was 2/3 done welding the other end when I discovered what that "bong" sound was that happened earlier. It was the tube popping its tack-welds at the second end, I didn't notice, so one end of the tube is now off. Not enough to have to be ripped out, just a reminder about heat distortion. I go on and on about this in the book - it's a big deal. It can be a real problem when not accounted or worse, ignored.

Work's progressing on the drawings; the front arms are done, plus the upper rear. Took closeup pictures of the arms which will be added to the suspension chapter. CAD drawings are good, but seeing the actual part helps a lot. More pictures will be added to all chapters. As someone said, a few high-res pictures do more for construction than video, though video's good for publicity.

Haven't decided whether to make the push-rod suspension its own chapter... At first it didn't seem that big a deal, but with a rocker-arm, push-rod, chassis mods for the rocker and bottom of the shock, it's getting there.

Meanwhile, the background task is reading and rereading chapters, fixing typos, adding info, rearranging. One of the quotes I have is: "Writing a book is an adventure; it begins as an amusement, then it becomes a mistress, then a master, and finally a tyrant.'' Winston Churchill

Yup, that's pretty close!

I'm a male author, but I think deciding to write a book is a lot like deciding to get pregnant. It's really fun getting pregnant, and it's not so bad at the beginning, but then just gets harder and more intrusive in your life as the time goes by. The deadline for the manuscript is a lot like a due date, and as that approaches you just want the damn thing over with. You swear you'll never get pregnant/sign-up for another book project again as long as you live. After the birth, you're really proud and happy with the little bugger, and, then, a year or so after the birth you forget all the pain you went through and you start thinking, hey, wouldn't it be fun to get pregnant again. Sigh. I'm deep into my new book project, and I'm at the stage where I just want the damn thing to pop out already...

I had to read that twice, wondering,"where the heck is this going," lol.

For those of you who don't know, Mark's the author of "Street Turbocharging", http://www.amazon.com/Street-TurbochargingHP1488-Installation-High-Performance-Turbocharger/dp/1557884889/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265308546&sr=8-1 It's a great book, much better than the old Corky Bell book.

As posted on the web diary, the suspension's done - other than my goof that'll require moving the rocker arm mount

That'll be taken care of next weekend, along with some finish-up welding and adding a few gussets. I'll be very happy to be done with the suspension - that feels like it's taken forever. Rolling around what to do next, electrical, paneling, huh, the list really is getting shorter.

Fortunately you have a wife that does whatever you say and, wearing the pants in the family, you'll have as much building time as you want  Just kidding. Your vacation was well-timed, saving you some work if you plan on going push-rod front suspension.

 Yeah it goes something like this "Here honey takes some cash and go shopping" (as I sneak out the back to work on the car)

I do plan on going Push Rod front and for once it seemed my procrastinating did pay off!
