K24 transmission options

Post by Ed Evans » 10 Nov 2016, 06:50

Newb question here. Does anyone know of a complete list of trannys that are compatible with the K24 engines? And does it matter which K24? I've gleaned some info from forums of folks swapping K24s into their civics, but there they have some chassis constraints etc that don't matter on midlana.

The K24 and K20 bellhousings have the same pattern so any transmission in the K-series line will fit. Anything else will require an adaptor plate, not an impossible task but it does require a lot of careful measuring. The only solution for the stock tranny is aftermarket gears ($3-5K) or switching to a Honda-compatible sequential box ($8-20K). Guys running crazy-high power are usually drag racing and use a GM automatic tranny with an adaptor plate.
