Torque Steer

Which drivetrain to choose, so many choices, 4-cyl? 6-cyl? NA? Turbo?

Torque Steer

Postby PatMack » 29 Nov 2012, 20:03

I have a question about the front wheel drive transmissions that are used in the Midlana concept.

Is torque steer a significant concern? If so it would seem that transmissions that have equal half shaft length would be highly desirable.

Thank you, Midlana is a great concept and evolution of the Seven!!

Best regards,

There is no issue with torque-steer. The Honda drivetrain actually does have equal-length half-shafts - the intermediate shaft takes up the difference and is much stiffer. However, even if they were dissimilar, I've never heard of torque steer caused by it. Theoretically I can see how it could happen, but have never heard of it.
