Build table in the UK - another option

Post by Oily » 24 Jul 2017, 11:42

Hi,

A year on, and I'm still planning, but getting ever closer to actually getting somewhere, as I now have my engine !

Have started thinking about a build table, and although it would be a little low, am looking at basing it on a caravan ! In the UK, you can pick up a wreck for less than £50, with working brakes & chances are a galvanised chassis.

Am wondering if I could use this as the base, and build a wooden structure on top ? (I could even then covert to a trailer to tow the car after the build is complete !).

Most have legs on each corner to adjust for being level, and although I would probably have to remove the draw-bar to get it to fit in the garage, it would make moving the car (on the build table !) in and out of the garage with ease ?

Thoughts ? (am I mad !) :)

That's an interesting idea. I'd think you'd want to be looking at the smallest one you can find, or it'll be a long reach from the edge to the middle. The low height might be an issue as well, but I guess there are ways round that.
